Pierre G. Basmaji brings decades of compliance, legal, and corporate governance experience to his role at Neural Labs, Inc., particularly within AI and fintech companies during dynamic periods of industry growth and regulatory challenges. As the Chief Compliance Officer, Pierre oversees legal and compliance operations, focusing on managing corporate governance, compliance, and contractual aspects of the business. He is primarily responsible for all contractual aspects of the company’s fundraising and agreements with outside parties (e.g., investment agreements, engagement letters, licensing agreements, etc.).
Leveraging his extensive experience, Pierre designs and implements compliance programs across highly regulated sectors such as financial services, insurance, and healthcare. Throughout his decade-long journey in regulatory oversight, he has adeptly addressed regulatory intricacies across emerging technology platforms and established financial institutions.
Before joining Neural, Pierre was pivotal in the foundational stages of various high-growth companies, especially in health and wellness and social media. He established financial transaction protocols, trust and safety measures, and privacy frameworks, showcasing a strong ability to create and oversee daily compliance programs in areas including privacy laws, ISO 27001 guidance, HIPAA, consumer protection, anti-money laundering, and securities. He also provided guidance on a wide array of legal and regulatory matters, hired, trained, and managed compliance staff, and trained customer service teams and other company employees to help identify potential compliance issues for escalation to the compliance department.
Pierre was solely responsible for managing the company’s responses to third-party audits and regulatory examinations, with no serious or systemic deficiencies ever noted by any auditor or examiner.
At Neural, Pierre's responsibilities encompass the entirety of the company's legal and compliance initiatives, ensuring operations align with legal standards and anticipating potential regulatory challenges.
